The Tail That Woke Me is a stop motion animation crafted entirely from cut paper, inspired by my real-life morning ritual with my dog, Scrappy. Every day, he gently wakes me in the softest, most persistent way—tail wagging, eyes shining, full of love. I wanted to capture that tender exchange and transform it into a simple, hand-crafted story that speaks to the warmth of companionship.
This piece is a love letter to those small, quiet moments that begin our days and to the pets who make them brighter. The tactile nature of paper animation allowed me to emphasize the intimacy of the scene, layering care into every frame. Though short and sweet, this animation carries the heart of a bond that words can’t quite capture—but movement and texture can.
